Jammu Srinagar National Highway Traffic Plan for 10.04.2017

The occurring of landslides in the aftermath of rainfall from April 4-8, caused severe damage to the NHW at some places and rendered the width of NHW at Seri, Digdol, Gangroo, Panthyal, Hingni and Sherbibi narrow. The narrowness of the road makes the regulation of traffic on the NHW a cumbersome job and therefore plying of two-way traffic is not feasible.

Therefore, subject to fair weather/ good condition of the road and clearance from Traffic Control Units, only one way movement of traffic shall be allowed on the NHW on 10.04.2017. Under the said plan, movement of traffic (excluding Trailers/multi-axle vehicles) shall be allowed from Srinagar towards Jammu side in a regulated manner. Movement of traffic (including convoys of Army, BSF, CRPF etc.) shall be allowed from Levdora (Qazigund) from 0700 hours and all these vehicles shall cross Jawahar Tunnel by 1300 hours positively. However, in order to avoid congestion on the NHW, cut off timing for all the Jammu bound vehicles shall be 1000 hours at Pantha Chowk (Srinagar) beyond which no Jammu bound vehicle shall be allowed to cross the said location and instead they shall be parked at appropriate places in an orderly manner so that no hindrance is caused to the movement of normal traffic.

No movement of traffic including that of convoys of Army, BSF, CRPF etc. shall be allowed from Jammu towards Srinagar side on 10.04.2017 under any circumstances to ensure hassle free movement of traffic on the NHW.

Commuters are requested/advised that vehicles are not parked in any landslide/ vulnerable zones of NHW especially from Ramsoo – Jawahar Tunnel – Levdora under any circumstances. All the vulnerable/slide prone zones should be kept free from all sorts of traffic to avoid any eventuality.

People are requested to undertake journey on Srinagar-Jammu National Highway after confirming the status from TCUs.
They should contact TCU Srinagar (01942450022, 2485396), TCU Ramban (9419993745) and TCU Jammu (01912459048, 9419147732) to get the status of the road before starting their journey. They shall also contact Traffic Police officers viz. IGP Traffic J&K (9419192362); SSP Traffic, Rural Kashmir (9419091281); SSP Traffic NHW (9596304020); Dy.SsP Traffic Udhampur/Reasi (9419013015); Ramban (9419185925); Banihal (9419233978) and Dy.SP Traffic, Kulgam/Qazigund (9796959260) in case of any assistance en-route.
