National Highway Traffic Update Traffic Plan for 22.04.2017
The condition of the NHW, especially at Seri, Gangroo, Panthyal, Hingni and Sherbibi in not too good. Due to the over all condition of the NHW in general and narrow width of the road at the above said locations in particular, plying of two-way traffic on the NHW is not feasible.
Therefore, subject to fair weather/ good condition of the road and clearance from Traffic Control Units, only one way movement of traffic shall be allowed on the NHW on 22.04.2017. Under the said plan, movement of traffic (excluding Trailers/multi-axle vehicles) shall be allowed from Srinagar towards Jammu side in a regulated manner. Movement of the traffic shall be allowed from Levdora (Qazigund) from 0700 hours and all these vehicles shall cross Jawahar Tunnel by 1300 hours positively. However, in order to avoid congestion on the NHW, cut off timing for all the Jammu bound vehicles shall be 1000 hours at Pantha Chowk (Srinagar) beyond which no Jammu bound vehicle shall be allowed to cross the said location and instead these vehicles shall be parked at appropriate places in an orderly manner so that no hindrance is caused to the movement of normal traffic.
No movement of any sort of traffic shall be allowed from Jammu towards Srinagar side on 22.04.2017 under any circumstances to ensure hassle free movement of traffic on the NHW.
Commuters are requested/advised that vehicles are not parked in any landslide/ vulnerable zones of NHW especially from Ramsoo – Jawahar Tunnel – Levdora under any circumstances. All the vulnerable/slide prone zones should be kept free from all sorts of traffic to avoid any eventuality.
People are requested to undertake journey on Srinagar-Jammu National Highway after confirming the status from TCUs as the chances of occurring sudden land slides on the NHW cannot be ruled out. They should contact TCU Srinagar (01942450022, 2485396), TCU Ramban (9419993745) and TCU Jammu (01912459048, 9419147732) to get the status of the road before starting their journey.
